This Privacy Policy explains how Moo Money ("Moo Money," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, stores, and protects information when you use our website, web app, and related services that link to this Privacy Policy (collectively, the "Service").

Website: https://moomoney.net
Privacy contact: privacy@moomoney.net

By using the Service, you understand that we collect and use information as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, do not use the Service.

1. Overview

Moo Money is a finance tracking app for individuals, households, families, couples, and businesses. The Service helps users connect financial accounts, track transactions, organize budgets, view cash flow, monitor net worth, track investments and liabilities, estimate real estate values, upload transaction attachments, share household financial information, and manage subscriptions.

Important points:

  • We collect information needed to operate the Service, including account information, profile information, household information, financial account data, transaction data, investment data, liability data, real estate/property data, billing records, support communications, uploaded files, usage data, and technical data.
  • We use Plaid to help users connect financial accounts and retrieve financial data authorized by the user.
  • We use Stripe to process subscription payments and manage billing.
  • We use Google sign-in if you choose to sign in with Google.
  • We use RentCast and/or similar property-data providers for real estate valuation features.
  • We use other service providers for hosting, authentication, storage, analytics, security, communications, and operation of the Service. We do not name every infrastructure provider in this Privacy Policy, but we describe the categories of providers that may process information for us.
  • Household members can access all data in the household. Do not join or invite someone to a household unless you are comfortable sharing household financial information with that person.
  • We do not sell your financial data.
  • We do not use your financial data for targeted advertising.
  • We do not send general marketing newsletters at this time. If you join a waitlist or request product updates, we may use the email you provide to send those requested updates. We may also send transactional, administrative, security, account, billing, and service-related messages.
  • Moo Money is not a financial advisor, tax advisor, investment advisor, lender, broker, accountant, attorney, appraiser, or real estate professional.
  • Automated transaction categorization may be inaccurate. You are responsible for reviewing your own financial data.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information directly from you, automatically when you use the Service, from household members who interact with shared household data, and from third-party services you choose to connect.

2.1 Account and Profile Information

We may collect:

  • name;
  • email address;
  • login credentials or authentication information;
  • account identifiers;
  • session, security, and login information;
  • multi-factor authentication settings or verification metadata;
  • country of residence;
  • timezone and display preferences;
  • profile picture, birthday, or other optional profile details if you provide them;
  • onboarding choices, referral source, and reasons for using Moo Money.

2.2 Google Sign-In Information

If you choose to sign in with Google, we may receive information from Google such as your Google account identifier, name, email address, and profile image, depending on your Google settings and the permissions shown to you.

We use Google sign-in information to authenticate your account, operate the Service, and maintain account security. We do not use Google sign-in information for targeted advertising. Our use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements, where applicable.

2.3 Household Information

If you create, join, or are invited to a household, we may collect:

  • household name;
  • household member names, emails, roles, permissions, and membership status;
  • household invitations and invite metadata;
  • household-level settings;
  • data created, connected, edited, uploaded, or shared by household members.

Important household-sharing notice: Household members can access all household data, including financial accounts, balances, transactions, budgets, investments, liabilities, real estate information, uploaded attachments, notes, tags, categories, and other household records. If you leave a household, data you added, connected, edited, or uploaded may remain in that household unless it is deleted through the Service by someone with authority to delete it.

2.4 Financial Account and Transaction Information

When you connect a financial account or add financial data manually, we may collect and store information such as:

  • financial institution names and account labels;
  • account names, account type, account subtype, account category, and partial account identifiers such as masked account numbers or last digits;
  • balances, available balances, credit limits, currencies, and balance dates;
  • transactions, including dates, amounts, names, merchants, categories, tags, notes, payment channel, pending status, and related metadata;
  • budgets, spending targets, budget categories, custom categories, rules, and preferences;
  • hidden, excluded, closed, or manually managed account settings;
  • financial reports, cash-flow views, net-worth views, and related calculations.

2.5 Plaid-Connected Financial Data

If you use Plaid to connect financial accounts, we may collect and store financial data that you authorize Plaid and your financial institution to provide. Depending on the accounts you select and the features you use, this may include:

  • account information;
  • balances;
  • transactions and transaction history;
  • merchants, counterparties, categories, and payment details;
  • investment accounts, securities, holdings, prices, quantities, values, cost basis, and investment transactions;
  • credit, loan, mortgage, student-loan, and other liability information, such as payment amounts, due dates, interest-rate information, payoff information, overdue status, and past-due amounts;
  • sync status and related metadata needed to keep your financial data updated.

We use Plaid-connected data to provide user-facing Moo Money features, such as account aggregation, transaction tracking, automated categorization, budgeting, cash flow, reporting, net worth, investments, liabilities, and related Service functionality. We do not sell Plaid-connected data.

You may disconnect a Plaid-connected institution through the Service. When you disconnect an institution, we delete the access credentials or tokens that allow Moo Money to continue retrieving data from that institution. You may choose to keep historical data for manual tracking or delete it where the Service allows. Plaid and your financial institution may separately retain information according to their own policies and legal obligations.

2.6 Investment and Liability Information

If you use investment or liability features, we may collect information such as:

  • investment accounts, securities, holdings, quantities, prices, values, cost basis, vested quantities, vested values, and investment transactions;
  • credit-card, loan, mortgage, student-loan, and other liability information;
  • interest rates, rate type, payment amounts, due dates, payoff dates, origination dates, maturity dates, overdue status, and past-due amounts;
  • manually entered investment, debt, loan, or account information.

2.7 Real Estate and Property Information

If you use real estate features, we may collect and process information such as:

  • property addresses;
  • property type;
  • bedroom and bathroom count;
  • square footage;
  • estimated property values and value ranges;
  • comparable property information;
  • property identifiers and related valuation data from RentCast and/or similar property-data providers.

Real estate and valuation information may be estimated, delayed, incomplete, or inaccurate.

2.8 Uploaded Files and Attachments

The Service may allow you to upload transaction attachments, such as receipts, images, PDFs, or supporting documents.

Uploaded files may contain personal information or financial information. We use uploaded files to provide the attachment and recordkeeping features of the Service.

We currently limit transaction attachments to supported PDFs and image files. Uploaded files are subject to size limits, file-type restrictions, and security validation intended to reduce unsafe uploads. Moo Money does not currently use a dedicated third-party antivirus or malware-scanning engine, and no file screening process can guarantee that every unsafe file will be detected.

If a transaction is deleted, its associated attachment is intended to be deleted as well. Attachments are included in account deletion requests, but uploaded attachments may not be included in account export files at this time.

2.9 Billing and Subscription Information

We use Stripe to process subscription payments and manage billing. We may collect and store billing-related information such as:

  • subscription plan;
  • subscription status;
  • billing period;
  • cancellation status;
  • invoice, coupon, promotion, or payment-status information;
  • payment processor customer and subscription identifiers;
  • limited payment details returned by the payment processor, such as card brand, last four digits, expiration month/year, or billing status.

Moo Money does not intentionally store full card numbers or card security codes. Stripe may process payment information under its own terms and privacy policy.

We do not use this information for targeted advertising.

  • provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Service;
  • create, authenticate, and secure accounts;
  • connect financial accounts at your direction;

7.1 Account Deletion

You may request deletion of your Moo Money account through the Service. You must cancel any active subscription before deleting your account.

After a valid deletion request, Moo Money deletes active account data by the earlier of:

  • 7 days after the deletion request; or

This deletion process is intended to include account data, profile data, household membership, connected-account credentials, financial account data, transactions, investments, liabilities, real estate records, uploaded transaction attachments, support/contact submissions, usage logs, and related records, except where retention is permitted or required as described below.

7.3 Backups

Deleted information may remain in backups for a limited period. We aim to delete or render unrecoverable deleted account data from scheduled backups within the same deletion timeline described above, unless retention is reasonably necessary for legal, security, fraud-prevention, dispute, or compliance reasons.

7.4 Connected Account Disconnection

If you disconnect a financial institution, Moo Money deletes the access credentials or tokens that allow continued retrieval of data from that institution. Historical financial data may remain in Moo Money if you choose to keep it for manual tracking or until you delete it through the Service.
